Casa Figini was design in built in Milan in the 1930s by architect Luigi Figini as his private residence and studio. It exhibits the essence of Italian Rationalism, a style that drew from Le Corbusier and was popularized by Figini's firm, Gruppo Sette (which included Giuseppe Terragni).

This model was crafted with a group of three out of Basswood to 1/8" scale. All cuts and sanding were done entirely by hand.

This project extensively studied the architecture of the building using printed construction drawings. The building was then reproduced through various models and drafted drawings to express the spatial qualities, proportions, and overlap of indoor and outdoor environments.

Left | The spatial model was crafted to specifically come apart to reveal the interior qualities as well as the relationship with the building's façade

Bottom Right | An analytical model that represents the relationship of indoor rooms and outdoor rooms.
